Now that kids have settled back into school, some challenges might be having challenges with REGULATION. Kids that are well regulated are calm, alert and ready to learn. In order to stay regulated, many kids need to:
- MOVE: It can be helpful to incorporate movement breaks (in addition to recess time) into a child's day. Sometimes Move and Sit cushions or Senseez Cushions can help a child who has trouble sitting. A Ball Chair or standing desk can sometimes help too. Movement breaks can sometimes help the whole class stay regulated.
- CHEW: Some kids will chew on pencils, shirts, finger nails, etc... Save those shirts from getting holes in them and use a chewy tube, pencil topper, chewy necklace, or chewy bracelet.
- FIDGET: For some people, fidgeting with something helps them focus and stay calm. Fidgeting with a Tangle or a Molecule Ball can help.
